How is Smallville parallel to the real superman story? What is the Superman story?

I am a big fan of the show Smallville, and I am not too familiar with the real superman story. Now forgive my ignorance but the only superman history I know is with the latest movie Superman Returns. I know that he loves Lois Lane, but in Smallville he loves Lana. Can anyone explain?|||I remember when they started Smallville 8 years ago. The producers came up with 3 golden rules for the show: No flying, No tights, and Clark loves Lana. They said if they veered away from any of these rules, Clark would cease being young Smallville resident Clark Kent.


I know they seem to drag out the Clark/Lana relationship but they don't really have a choice. The moment Clark dumps Lana and goes for Lois is the moment he becomes Superman and the story of Smallville is over. Hope this helps.|||well superman is really the same mytholgy as smallville. superman is kal el from anoter planet called krypton and he cant go near kryptonite. Superman works at the daily planet as clark kent. then when he works at the daily he makes friends jimmy olsen and lois lane. when he first layed eyes on her he fell in love.





Please pick me as best answer.|||Superman returns takes place after the Cris reeves movies, smallville takes place as Supes is a teen and a young adult. They have added a little to the superman myth in the series, but it is more or less as th comics go.|||Smallvile comes close to the life of Superman when he was a boy in the comics. In the comics, he was a hero with a costume and was in love with Lana Lang who would always try to discover his secret identiy. Both Ma and Pa Kent were around until they died from a mysterious disease that Superman (age 20 or so) could not find a cure for. Smallvile's Lex Luthor was also in the comics and it sort of follows the comics with Lex once being Superboy's friend until Superboy put a fire out in Lex's lab with his super breath. He accidentaly blew some chemicals in his hair which fell out. Lex never forgave him and turned to crime and their battles carried on through adult hood. Hopes that explains some of it.
