Has anyone seen previews of the new Superman movie?

I seen pics of the new Superman suite and it sucks! It has muscles bulging out. Superman is not like that at all. The suit also looks like it is covered in little dimples, like on a golf ball. And I think the cape is to long and is missing something on the back.---- __

\__/

Don't get me wrong, I am still going to watch it, on DVD|||A little early to judge based on one picture, don't ya think?|||My wife and her brothers said they saw a preview on yahoo teaser or something.

I call BS, and I also better get a decent superman movie this time or I quit!|||oh really.. yeah i think I've heard of that Superman movie you're talking about. :)|||Christopher Nolan is producing the thing so it's safe to assume it's not going to suck. Well, unless you're a complete idiot.|||i looked on youtube.com and i saw the suit and was wondering, what the hell where they thinking? i mean you can see bumps or whatever. suit looks too rubbery. thats going to be what i think way too hot when wearing it. what brandon routh was a lot better looking than the new guy is wearing. if i were the new guy i would tell them no way im wearing this hot rubber suit. dont need to lose weight|||All that was released was one photo. They also just started filming, so we won't see any actual footage until maybe late 2011/early 2012.

Besides the film's release date is June 2013, so just wait and see|||Tom Welling couldn't have played Superman. Smallville is completely different from the comics, the old Christopher Reeve films, and even superman returns. taking weliing out of that more commercialized yarn, and puting him into a big budget film that is going to tell a completely different story would have been a disaster. i love smallville too, but it would not have worked.you fellow smallville fans need to come off it.

it's very similar material to the suit that was used in thor. i think what the production team is looking for is a total departure from the older films. "returns" was basically directed by richard donner. Zac Snyder/Chris Nolan doesn't want to make a richard donner film. i would rather have a cape that went on for miles, than one cut off around his knees(did anyone see all-star superman?), you have to think visually, and his cape flying all over the place whilst kicking masive a** would undoubtedly look awesome.

if you look close enough, i believe you will notice that he's not wearing red trunks either. know why?because in DC's relaunch, superman no longer wears red trunks. Snyder has always done an incredible job staying as true to the source material as can be done in a film. i doubt he would radically change the look of the character without a reason, or basis, to do so.

as far as superman's muscles bulging,HE'S FREAKING SUPERMAN, the bigger the better. should a guy that can move planets look like sheldon from big bang theory? art styles always differes between artists in the comics, some artists(like joe quesada) picture superman as a massive character, some don't. but a balls-out, buffed up superman is exactly what this films needs.

i'm going to say this one time. if you are a superman fan you HAVE to see this movie. if it sucks, it sucks, but at least view it one time. because if this movie bombs, we won't likely see big blue on the big screen for a very long time, if ever again.

How to do a superman slide (belly slide)?

Hi, can you guys help me out? I want to figure out how to do a superman slide (belly slide) without hurting myself? I play paintball and I really want to get this down because I play front and it would help immensely.

Tips, pointers, even a video would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you!|||Cool. Ok the first important thing to remember is that you are not trying to jump forward. If you "get air" while doing a superman you are going to get hurt or break your marker...with that out of the way.

1. Run as low to the ground as possible.

2. Lean forward while running, this isn't a run and gun move yet till you have it mastered.

3. Turn your marker to the side just before you get ready to launch yourself forward.

This step is important to keep you from breaking your ASA, reg, hopper or gripframe. If the marker is in your right hand rotate the marker clockwise with the hopper going right. This will put your tank on the inside of your forearm. All you have to do now is point the barrel upwards slightly so you don't "lawn dart" into the turf and get a barrel full of dirt/grass/mud.

4. While running launch yourself forward at the ground, keep in mind that you don't jump, just let your upper body weight take over and push off with your left leg. The key is to be as low as possible to the ground with some speed before this part is attempted.

5. Just before you hit the ground, your left hand should be extended and your right arm slightly bent at your elbow. The first things to touch the ground are as follows.

Your left hand

Both forearms(get pads)

Then your chest

Followed by the rest of your body.

6. You can use your left hand to help push yourself into the bunker if you came up alittle short.

If you can practice in your backyard on a big piece of cardboard at slow running speeds. Just remember that you are not trying to get air, your forearms and whatever hand is not holding your marker hit first and stay low before the dive.

Good Luck

If Silver Surfer fought Superman fought each other ten times how many fights would each win?

Only respond to this question is you are familiar with both characters please. Also, don't vote for the one or the other because you like the character/publisher more.

I'm thinking of the Surfer as he appeared in his third edition series when he wasn't stranded on earth anymore, and Superman as he appears in his current series, not the silver/golden age versions. In other words, when each character is opperating at maximum strength and power levels.

This question wins the prize for Nerdiest entry of all time.|||Well, as Superman appears in his current series right now in the One Year Later storyline, Up Up and Away, no longer has any powers, and no longer is Superman. He has not been for a year, since the end of the events in Infinite Crisis, so I would say Silver Surfer will win all 10 battles with no contest...

As for the Second Addition there, going with All Star Superman, he is a Battery. Are all ten Battles going on right in a row? If so, Superman may win the first battles, but as time progresses, he will weaken and not recharge as fast. Much to the way Superman of the standard DCU died Pre-Infinite Crisis in a battle with Doomsday out of exhaustion. Also, if the battle is in space, then there is even less time for him to recharge, so I will say Superman will win the first 2 battles, but will not be able to continue on much longer...|||I actually have a different opinion from everyone else. If were using All Stars Superman....Superman curb stomps Surfer atleast 7 out of 10. Superman might die because of the overload in his powers. But I doubt it. All Stars Supermans powers have atleast tripled! This Supes is way stronger.

|||10 because one can only fith with one another so u can't say that silver surfer started the fight with himself. so the "fought supermane" from the beginning of the question are 2 redundant words.|||ok i am not answering because i dont know one character that is silver surfer.|||I would probably have to say the Surfer, 5-4, with one draw. With his power cosmic, he is probably more powerful than Superman, and possessing the ability to synthesize kryptonite wouldn't hurt. It would be close, but probably the Surfer.|||They are both super stong, no doubt, but i'll go with Silver Surfer. I like him more and plus, superman is too over rated. i also like marvel betta. anyway, the silver surfer has the power of the cosmos so therefor he would defeat (but not too easily) superman anyday now.

Is Zod anything besides a character in Superman?

I know he's a Character from Superman, but is he anything else? The Disturbed song Meaning of Life says "Give in, Give in to Zod, Give in." and he's featured in the Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 episode "Wi-Tri." Is he biblical or anything, or just from Superman?|||He was created as an antagonist to Superman which first appeared in Adventure Comics #283 April 1961...|||I think his only extstence is due to Superman series.

How can I make my name in a superman logo?

I was just wondering, i thought it would be sick. My name is Noah, please help me!|||Try going into powerpoint or word, type in your first and last initial (no periods), then highlight them and go to font types. Select one of the Wingdings, or symbols. Finally, play with the colors!

Six flags America is building a new coaster behind superman:ride of steel?

What was the comic book mentioned in the June edition of Maxim staring Superman and Batman?

I just read it yesterday but I've forgotten the title. I'm at work and just wanted to look it up during my free time.|||I tried doing a Maxim search on it and could not find the article.

My guess, however, given all of the attention on the death of Bruce Wayne as well as the release of the story in hard cover would be "Final Crisis".

If it is not that, then it might be "Public Enemies" - the first story of the Superman/Batman team ups..|||Could be just the plain old monthly Superman/Batman comic.

Which is better reading MAD magazine, or reading a Superman comic?

Me and my cousin got in a fight because of which one is better. MAD or a Superman comic?|||MAD. It's hands down one of the most sophisticated humor mags on the planet. How would Christians and Atheists regard a Superman like being on Earth?

If one landed on Earth without and knowledge of his past and began doing only good deeds such as stopping crime, helping people, the whole nine yards, how would you regard him?

Would Christians think he was the devil? Or a gift from God? Or God?

Would Atheists think he was a God? Or what?

Thanks.|||I would call him an Angel or the Son of God|||I'd bribe him to reverse time by flying backwards around the world, and end the dark ages.|||He would be categorized as an extraterrestrial being. That is all.|||Well since Dwight Howard is Superman, and Christians and atheists don't really care about him...it doesn't really matter|||Let's hear it for Powdered Toast Man!!!! And, his cinnamony farts!|||Christians would crucify him and likely call him the Antichrist.

Atheists would high-five him and ask to hang out.|||I would not consider him a god, just a guy with super powers...|||I wish Hit-Girl was real. She was the only Kick-*** character in the entire movie.

Onto your question, I don't know or care enough about Superman to make a decision on that subject.|||As an atheist I would think "holy crap, it's Superman! Wait, if he's here, does that mean Lex Luther wants to screw over the world again?". I think a Christian would think the same thing.|||like a normal person like how I treat others no matter their social status.|||No, I would think he is a new science experiment lol.|||Scientific curiosity would lead me to try and understand what gives that superhuman it's ability. Medical science might even jump ahead several thousands of years upon studying him.

However, if eventually that super power was lead to be cruel to humanity, kind of god like, I'd spend my entire life figuring how to rid of him.|||At first I would be sceptical of his intentions, but I would begin to trust him if he demonstrated his benevolence. No, I would not think he's a god. I would think he's a Kryptonian.|||Actually, if Superman were to exist, I'd probably dismiss the Abrahamic God from then on|||%26lt;------

They would call me, Steve|||I would personally think he was some kind of intelligent life from somewhere that isn't Earth.

You've been touched by Imperfectionist|||Christians would burn him alive claiming he is a sorcerer .

Atheists would say welcome.

These are my opinions only.|||I would tell him to get lost because most of the time, the planet is just fine till the superheros show up. As soon as they do, they attract the super villians who were nowhere to be seen prior to their arrival.|||Christians would be frothing at the mouth, no doubt. And finding explanations for him in the scriptures.

I would be curious. Wanting to know more about this person.

Why did the Great America theme park get rid of their "Superman: Ultimate Flight" roller coaster?

In 2003, Great America (Northern California theme park) opened a popular roller coaster named "Superman: Ultimate Flight". It was one of my favorites, because it simulated flying like the Superman character does: facing the ground. They got rid of it a year or two later. Why did they get rid of it?|||I think you have your names confused - California's Great America never had a coaster named "Superman: Ultimate Flight" (that would be a coaster at a Six Flags park, which is a different company then the park you are talking about). They did have Stealth, which was a flying coaster - it was moved to Carowinds, a "sister" park (owned by the same company). It's now called "Nighthawk" at Carowinds. Parks sometimes trade rides between "sister" parks as a cheap alternative to buying a new/used ride.

They moved Stealth from Great America to make room for their waterpark.|||Maybe it was dangerous now.

How scary are Batman the Ride and Superman in Six Flags Great America?

I have only been to Great America once, and the only big ride I went on was the Demon. The only part I hate on rollercoasters is when your stomach drops. I can handle it, I just don't really like it. Superman was my first upside down roller coaster, it's super smooth, and the loop is different than most, so there's not that much 'stomach feeling.' I'd say it's one of the best rides there.

Batman is MUCH more intense, and it often gives me a headache because it's a bit head bangy. If you can handle multiple inversions, then I say, what the heck, why no give it a try?

Really, American Eagle and Viper are the only rides that will really give you the 'stomach drop' feeling.

(btw. Demon is often regarded as one of the worst rides there)|||DON'T TRY THE SUPERMAN! It is SUCH an extreme ride! You actually FEEL like your Superman and its like your flying through the air super fast. It sounds fun, but when your on it and feel like your gonna fall (they only strap you in from the head to the shoulders!) you'll wanna get off. The Batman is not that scary, I came to Great America the day the Batman ride was opening and it was an okay ride. Kinda fast. But all roller coasters make your stomach drop and going on the Superman wouldn't help you much.|||Those two are actually not nearly as extreme as some of their other ones, like Nitro, El Toro, or Kingda Ka. There are bigger versions of these in Florida where I live and my wife, who is very skiddish about big thrill rides, loves those. You should be just fine.

Good Luck!

Just by the size and color I made that estimate, but you would really have to go to an artist to see exactly. You may be able to get it for way cheaper than I was thinking, but I wouldn't know. But good luck to you, I hope you find the answer you're looking for.|||Yeah, it all depends on the artist. Would like to start reading the story of Superman.?

How can I start from the beginning, when I know that very first comic of Superman is hard to find, unless I can get a copy of it somewhere? Any suggestions?|||You don't need to read the first Superman comic from the 1930s. That Superman character is very different from the one appearing in DC comics today.

They've re-done Superman's origin several times since then, to update it and keep the character relevant to today's audiences.

The most famous update was in 1986, a miniseries called "The Man of Steel", written and drawn by John Byrne. They pretty much threw aside 50 years of continuity at that point and started over. Should be available in paperback.

The story was revised and told again in 2003, with a mini-series called "Superman: Birthright", and they're about do it AGAIN with a series called "Superman: Secret Origin" - I think Issue #1 should be in comic-book stores right now.

Howwould you handle this situation if you were Superman?

Let's say Metropolis is having an intense rainstorm. You're out doing your Superman thing and helping people out when suddenly you hear what sounds like an extremely loud locomotive. Because it's raining so hard, you use your X-Ray vision. That's when you see that an extremely powerful tornado over 2 miles wide has just touched down is on a collision course with the city. Using your powers, what would you do to try and stop it?|||Since tornados are created by heated air rapidily spiralling upward while colder air rapidly spirals down, one that is over two miles wide could only be generated artificially. Some means of control is either superheating the ground level air or superfreezing the upper atmosphere (or both). Using all of his senses, I'm sure he'd be able to trace the source of this control and neutralize it.

Of course, a supertornado wouldn't just stop on a dime just because its plug was pulled.

Flying in a fast loop, perpendicular to the ground (but inside the walls of the twister) would do two things. 1) It would quickly mix the temperatures of the hot and cold air into neutrality, and 2) create a wind barrier inside the existing twister that would break up its integrity.|||I would make a tornado and collide with it so I can go inside and throw it in space|||Either use super breath to blow it the other way, or super speed to run or fly around it to stop the rotation.

Hi,

Just read Superman Earth One and loved it. Was wondering if there will be a second issue or a continuum to this series, or was Earth One just a collector exclusive edition with one volume?

Let me know. Thanks in advance.|||Superman: Earth One is the first graphic novel in the DC: Earth One series. There are plans to make this an ongoing publication, as well as incorporating the origins of other DC flagship characters. The next in line to be released will be Batman: Earth One in 2011. You'll probably find Superman: Earth One Vol. 2 shortly after that.

How accurate is Smallville with the Superman DC comics?

I haven't been following the Smallville series for quite a while. I started watching again this year. But I'm getting confused with the storyline of Lois and Clark?

Has the Smallville series been faithful in following the DC comics?

PS. How about Superman Returns... did it also follow the comics?|||1) For Smallville there are elements that are based on the comics but not faithful to them. For example, Chloe Sullivan doesn't exist in the comics. The way Lois Lane became a reporter is inaccurate. In Smallville she sort of stumbled upon it when she actually persued it in the comics. The character of Oliver Queen is actually based more on Bruce Wayne/Batman then the real Oliver Queen. Martha and Jonathen are older and live on the farm (although Jonathen just died in the comics from a heart attack). Lana was never married to Lex, but she did run Lexcorp for a few months about a year ago in the comics. In fact, Lana married Pete and had his child. DC writers have also admitted that they had altered some of the comic history to match with the show. For example, in the modern age history of Clark's highschool time Lana was interested in Clark but he wasn't interested in her. Flashbacks over the last few years now portray it as a mutual interest that was never really explored.

2) Superman Returns was not faithful. Clark never left earth for years and he and Lois never had a biological child together. Following the movie, the superman titles did introduce a kryptonian child (Chris) that Lois and Clark adopted. Some comic fans were quite outraged with the Superman Returns and the introduction of a biological child. Especially since in the last few years of comics it has been stated that Lois and Clark are unable to produce a child together.|||There are different version of the supes in the comic books, Smallville take elements form various moments and interpretations of the comic book, add a lot of their own, and mixed it.

For example in the Silver age there was histories of Superboy, when Superman was a teen and live some adventures in Smallville. In this Version Lex and Superboy (not Clark Kent) were friends and then they turn enemies.

Later in the eighties, John Byrne did an amazing revamp of the character, where he was never Superboy, but leave Smallville to do greater good a couple of years before turn into Superman. They never met Lex before he was a stablished Superheroe.

Actually there have been others interpretations, (like the awful Birthright), but have been discarded.

In The Man of Steel #6 December 1986, Clark tells Lana his secret before leaving Smallville in a flashback.

But the modern version is told in Superman: Secret Origin 1 "The Boy of Steel" November 2009

In this book, which is part of the modern continuity and origin of Superman, Lana has known about Clark's power ever since he saved her from a combine harvester. In this issue, he saves her from a tornado and she discovers he can fly.

Does anyone know where I can find this Superman tattoo?

I found it on the web many years ago, and it became lost in my saved files. What happened to Superman in the original version of the comic?

1- did he died;how and by who?

2- if he is alive;what happened to the end of the story?|||The golden age (pre-60s) Superman was Kal-L of Earth-2. He looks older than most of the images of Superman you've seen. He wasn't as major of a character as the silver age Superman in comics post 1960s. He died recently in Infinite Crisis #7 when Superboy-Prime killed him. He's now a souless Black Lantern (kinda like an evil ghost with powers).

The silver age Superman was Kal-El of Earth-1 (they both went by Clark Kent, btw). He's most likely the Superman you're used to seeing. In 1992, DC Comics released the Death of Superman in it's Superman comics. In the comics, Superman and Doomsday, who is a ultra strong but pretty boring monster, kill each other (but death is never death in comic books).

Superman's "death" wasn't supposed to last as long as it did, but since his "death" was selling comics, DC extended it and introduced 4 characters who dressed like Superman (3 of which claimed they were Superman in some way).

The end of the story, we find out that Superman has been in a regeneration matrix (in a deep, healing sleep) ever since the fight with Doomsday. It's a total cop out. The real Superman emerges, though he is weaker now and has long hair. Superman was waken up just to find out that a Cyborg Superman (one of the 4 fake Supermen that were introduced earlier) has gone crazy and Superman, along with some of the fake Supermen, fights him and basically kills him for now.

If you think the story sounds stupid, it basically was. The story got a lot of press so it lasted longer than it should. If you want a trimmed down version of it without all the extra Supermen junk, rent the animated move "Superman: Doomsday". The movie is also sometimes on Cartoon Network if you catch it. It's pretty enjoyable since it's short (running time: 78 minutes).

Superman is still alive and as long as DC need money, he'll stay that way. Batman on the other hand.... well, he may or may not be dead right now (aka DC needs money :P)|||he died when he fought doomsday which was the result of cloning ,an infant sent out to survive in the harsh environment of krypton before kryptoninas ruled, where his remains were gathered and re cloned to create a powerful monster by the scientist Bertron.

Is it just me or are there parallels between Moses and Superman?

Both deliverers, saviors. Both were raised in a different home, different environment by different parents (the Kents raise Superman, while Moses grows up in Pharaoh's palace). Both fought against injustice and stood for good, battle evil, so-to-speak. Had great powers and abilities. I think it's interesting. Why are superman and lex luthor on first name basis?

I've been watching Justice league for nostalgia's sake, but don't remember all of the history between superman and lex luthor. But in episode Injustice for All in season 1 of justice league, superman calls lex by his first name. Were they friends at some point? Batman and Superman both call him Lex

the Doctor called him Mr. Luthor

as to their relationship... as JL/JLU is a continuation of the mythology from the Animated Series' of Batman and Superman, they have always been enemies in that time line...

My guess it was simply a choice by the writers, to denote the familairity between them... seeing as Superman has been facing him since the start of his Animated Series, and Batman has had issues with him since the 'World's Finest' episode in Superman's 2nd season -- which assuming a year a season.. and 1-2 between the end of Superman TAS and the start of JL(u) they've been fighting him for over 5 years|||only select aspects of SV have changed Canon (and the idea of a CK/Lex childhood friendship actually predates SV) ... and regardless of Canon the DCAU Dini/Timm-Verse that covers Batman, Superman, JL(U), Batman Beyond, et al has its own rules such as the Bats/WW sparks, GL/Hawkgirl romance

|||If you watched Smallville you can see a young Clark Kent who was friends with a young Lex Luthor. Also in the super boy comics from the golden age era superboy before he was superman was friends with a young Lex but a freak accident caused them both not to be friends anymore.|||This is just hypothesis, but that Justice League show may have followed Superboy/Silver Age history, where, when a young Clark (or Superboy) was growing up in Smallville, he befriends Lex Luthor. How this happens is different in many incarnations. Their relationship then turns sour (once again, differs per incarnation) and become permanent enemies.

I dreamed of a long blue snake fighting a large black spider. Also later dreamed flying like superman?

What does it mean:I dreamed of watching a cage where a big black spider bit and put his fangs in a long blue snake. I remember taking the long spider out and it came alive and tried strangling someone. I overpowered the snake and I think I may have hit it on the head knocking it out not wanting to kill it. I was also able to fly in my dream later like superman a dream or 2 after.|||The spider/snake is a part of you that you do not like, hence the negative image, and you are suppressing them by putting it in a cage. It is logical to think that both the spider and snake are in the cage as one is biting another. Do you mean long snake rather than "long spider"?

You have two negative traits about you that you do not like, but are capable of hurting people. One trait means you are capable of sinking your fangs into people, the other trait means that you are capable like the snake of constricting the life out of them. Both urges are destructive and so you suppress them in the cage. However, in a given situation it looks like there is a conflict between your two traits, resulting in you thinking you have conquered one of the traits via the other one, then you unleash it and find you are hurting someone. You are able to deal with the trait, but you are so attached to it you want to keep it.

The other dream is probably not related, but just indicates you feel you have the strength of superman in dealing with situations.|||To see a snake or be bitten by one in your dream, signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. Alternatively, the snake may be seen as phallic and thus symbolize temptation, dangerous and forbidden sexuality.

To see a spider in your dream, indicates that you are feeling like an outsider in some situation. Or that you may want to keep your distance and stay away from an alluring and tempting situation. The spider is also symbolic of feminine power. Alternatively, a spider may refer to a powerful force protecting you against your self-destructive behavior. If you kill a spider, it symbolizes misfortune and general bad luck.

To dream that you are flying, signifies a sense of freedom where you had initially felt restricted and limited.

hope this helps you out and good luck!|||the spider was your mother. the snake was your grocer|||Dreams about flying is so much fun! Especially when its a lucid dream.

How much would a Superman shield tattoo cost?

I'm thinking of getting a tattoo on my upper arm of the superman logo, not too detailed and in black, just wondering how much that would cost?|||I'd say about æ‹¢30 - æ‹¢40 in the UK. You should have it coloured in it would look a lot better, and less like you chickened out half way through lol.

Why do you want the superman tattoo, are you a bon jovi fan ?|||I don't think it's actually tacky depending on the reason you get it. I have seen plenty of tattoos and they're not ten-a-penny designs those shields. If you got it because you're like "I'm superman!" I think you'd get fed up of it at some point. If you genuinely have a passion for comic books i.e. it would class as a "geek tattoo" then I think it would look great especially if you had it done really well by a great artist.

However, if some self-important big mouth in yahoo answers can get you worried about having it and cloud your certainty to have it at all, you may want to leave it a while until you're sure.

If then, you really want it, go for it! It's your body. Price wise, as everyone else has said, would depend on how you wanted it. It's impossible to price tattoo ideas over the internet because EVERYTHING is a factor. Size, colour, detail, country, area, artist, etc..

If Superman pushes with 50% more force than Wonder Woman, which one will push the car 100yd in the least time?

Superman and Wonder Woman are engaged in a friendly wager. Each one is to push a 1968 Cadillac El Dorado (in neutral, brakes off) 100 yards as fast as possible.

If Superman pushes with 50% more force than Wonder Woman, which one will push the car 100 yards in the least time?

|||If this is an up-and-up question, then Superman will win the wager (according to Newton's 2nd Law Of Motion, i.e., F = ma)

For Wonder Woman,

F = m(a1)

and for Superman,

1.5F = m(a2)

and since the "m's" are the same,

F/(a1) = 1.5F/(a2)

a2 = 1.5(a1)

and since the car being pushed by Superman is accelerating 1.5 times that of the car being pushed by Wonder Woman, then obviously, Superman wins the wager hands down.

NOW, if this is a trick question, then it's something else ... |||I would hope superman. That would be sad if he was beat in a test of strength.|||Unless I'm missing something:

Superman is pushing with 1.5 times the force of Wonder Woman. Since F = mass x acceleration, this means that Superman will impart 1.5 times the acceleration. Since acceleration is change in velocity, Superman will thus increase the velocity of the car more than will Wonder Woman. End result: Superman will push the car 100 yards in the least amount of time.|||It depends. From what I hear, Superman pushes harder, but Wonder Woman lasts longer.

How does Superman reflect the values of the society in which he lives?

I have to write an essay about this and I need some ideas because i know absolutely nothing about him.|||He obviously represents America, and the 50's mindset that we were impenetrable, we'd won the war, developed nuclear technology, were an unstoppable world force, and began playing world police with the creation of the UN.

Just as Superman in unstoppable, strong, and never gives up, hoping for peace and justice.|||He doesn't reflect societal values, but he reflects societal ideals. It takes a strong person to stand up for their ideals when it would just be easier to serve himself not others. I doubt Superman's super-moral outlook really reflects the values of our society at all. A lot of people give lip-service to that kind of morality. They say people should act that way, but really we don't. Greed, lust, self-interest is seen in many places and people throughout our society. Modern America values youth, sex appeal, money, influence, and instant gratification. The values Superman embodies are more in tune with America of a past age.

power: ice

combat: brawling

movement: flight

heat vision

cold breath

super-strength

these are the iconic powers tied to supes. there are others. captain marvel's lightning bolt. green lanter's bubble shield, wonder woman's bullet efelection. costume is up to you, but there's plenty of room for a unique look.

This tactic may work with some people but not the majority. People with money, clout and power have a direct effect on what happens in this country.

If superman was to rip a super villians's testicles off would that kill him?

I've always wondered with superman's superhuman strength, if Superman one day just got really pissed off with Lex Luthor for doing evil and decided to rip Lex's testicles off would that kill Lex? Cause superhuman strength ripping off a bad guy with no powers balls would kill him like instantly right.|||Eh. That would be way out of character for the current version of Superman to do. That sort of thing sounds more like Golden Age Supes, to be honest. *lol*

Given the strength though....well, there'd be severe internal damage. It wouldn't just be the gonads coming off--everything they're attached to _inside_ might come out as well. The victim of something like this would need immediate medical attention to not bleed to death--and then need organ donors to replace his kidneys, bladder, prostate gland, and so on...

But yeah, this is _Not_ something Superman would do. Clark Kent's spent all his life on Earth being taught to "hold back" and not maim people. This kind of barbarity is more like something his stronger _enemies_ would do: something Bizarro, Solomon Grundy, Metallo, or General Zod would do.

If you get the chance to, read the recent Superman tale about "The Third Kryptonian". It's not who you think it is. But there are some funny scenes in there nonetheless. Simply put: Any veteran of Krypton's military just plain _owns_ Superman seven days a week. *lol*

I hope this helps.|||I don't think he would actually die provided he got medical attention before he bleeds to death. Now, knowing Supes, IF (and its a big one) he got that mad, he would probably feel pretty guilty and cauterize the wound with his heat vision...

And it would be fun watching Lex going soprano...|||not instantly kill him but he would most likely die if he did not get immediate medical help|||Yeah if he didn't get medical help he'd die. Hope I helped.

He would need a lot more than that.

if you could see all radiations, then you would be able to see through a lot of things (and with some kind of feeling of color). But there would still be limitations

How did superman turn back time?

How did superman turn back time by circling really fast in opposite direction to the earths rotation?

Did he cause earths spin to reverse?

But why would that reverse time??|||he did not cause to earth to reverse its spin. Here's how i understand:

Imagine anything you did 5 minutes ago, is real but when you really think about it, it's not. I mean, if you ate a candy 15 minutes ago, you know that you ate it, you might have started the digestion process but the act of eating the candy is gone, though it is real. It's just a virtual reality now. I know this is crazy.

Scientists say that the reality that happened a while ago, if was real, has to be real no matter when. That's how they came up with the worm hole thing. The reality in our past is somewhere in another dimension, but does exist. And you will be able to see it or even experience it only if you can travel in or above the speed of light.

Now comes superman. We know that he can travel fast, but I don't know if he can in the speed of light. If he does, that's what he's doing. He's traveling so fast that he can actually access those real things that happened in the past. To us, it seems like turning back the time because of dramatic conventions.|||The Earth is spinning backwards because time is slowing and then going backward much like watching the milk travel back into the carton in reverse. Best and worst big screen Superman, and who should be the next man of steel?

Brandon Routh was a gay superman, literally, I think Tom Welling of Smallville would make a great superman. He has the looks and the build. Is there an interview with composer John Williams on his Superman score?

Does anyone know of a recorded interview (or transcript) with John Williams where he talks in length about his Superman score? I've seen a few of his interviews about his Star Wars and Jaws scores, but I'm very interested in hearing what he has to say about Superman, the mythology and symbolism of the character, the film and its concepts and how he came to create his iconic melody (which could make someone believe that a man can fly).

Does Superman have to be touching kryptonite to be effected?

My friend and I got in an argument (all in good fun) about whether or not Superman has to be physically touching kryptonite to feel its effects, or whether simply being in the general vicinity of it is enough. Which one of us is right? Please help! Thank you ^^|||Dear Sammy:

According to the classical legend, it is the radiations from the green kryptonite that weaken Superman. Consequently, he does not have to be in physical contact with the mineral to feel its devastating effects. Just being in close proximity is enough.

The closer Superman is to the green kryptonite, the more intensely he feels its radiations. There is a principle in physics called the inverse square law. That is, if you reduce the distance between Superman and the green kryptonite by half, its radiations do not become twice as intense, but actually FOUR times as intense; and should he come into physical contact with the green kryptonite... well, the mineral cannot get much closer - and its radiations cannot get much more intense - than that.

The effects of green kryptonite radiations are cumulative. That is, the longer Superman stays within range of its radiations, the weaker he becomes. Given enough time - and enough exposure - the Man of Steel will die.

If the green kryptonite is twice as close, he will - per the aforementioned inverse square law - succumb four times as fast; and if he comes into physical contact with the mineral? Well, he will not die instantly; but neither will he be long for this world.

Another consideration: A larger piece of green kryptonite will, obviously, put out more radiations than a smaller piece.

The size and proximity of the green kryptonite plays a part in the plot. If a green kryptonite meteor the size of a marble were to land several feet away from Superman, he might be able to blow it out of range with a last-ditch blast of super-breath. On the other hand, if a green kryptonite meteor the size of a basketball were to land at Superman's feet - well, all I can say is, Jimmy Olsen had better get there fast.

I hope that this little treatise settles your friendly argument. Now, play nice.

Flash Kellam|||no, he just have to be close enough to the kryptonite to feel it effects. the distance varies depending on the size and concentration of kryptonite, and the amount of radiation that particular kryptonite is capable of releasing...|||no... he just have to be in the vicinity of the kryptonite to be affected...|||He just have to be around it. He could die if he touched it.|||No.

What is the value of a 1993 superman comic?

What is the value of 1993 superman in action #16 comic book?|||There was no "Superman in Action #16" published in 1993. You're probably referring to Action Comics, anywhere from #685-694. (#16 in a triangle would have been the issue number of 1993's Superman storyline over all four of his titles.) They're officially worth $3-5 each in mint condition, but it's really the sort of thing you'd find in a comic shop's quarter bin.

OTOH, if you meant Action Comics #16 from 1939, then up to $6,300 in mint condition. Use http://www.e-bigs.net/freetool.php to determine grade, and/or bring to a comic shop which works with a grading company to get it professionally graded.|||Depends on the popularity of it then and now and also the damand for them in the antique world. Call the local Antique shops or take the book in and have a rep check it out because it also depends on the current condition of the comic book.

Why can't we use electromagnetism to defy gravity and fly like Superman?

From what I understand, gravity is a weak force compared to the other 3 basic forces -- especially compared to electromagnetism. It takes the entire planet to pull my long hair towards the ground, but only a little static electricity to make it stick up above my head and defy gravity.

If that's true, then why can't we make some kind of electromagnetic suit and fly like Superman? Or why can't we just make an anti-gravity machine using the laws of electromagnetism? Just wondering haha.|||It might be possible, but think about what you are proposing. In order for electromagnetism to work, you must have opposing forces. This would entail having a "highway" of electrically charged particles under the vehicle.

Also, keep in mind that (as paranoid as it sounds), much of the transportation engineering that we currently have is designed to be inefficient. Your car burns gas and breaks down because it was DESIGNED to do so. We are a consumer driven economy....there is more money to be made by selling a product that is inefficient. That way, consumers are required to replace thier vehicle and to purchase expensive fuel.|||There sort of is such a thing. The problem is that you would have to have a strong electromagnetic field over a large area. This means using a lot of electricity and you'd need to have a material that conducts electricity very well.

Currently there is an experimental train that 'floats' above it's track by using superconductive rails using the same principle you described.

Hope you like my answer!

Who would win in a fight Superman or the Hulk?

I have asked a lot of people about this and the answer seems pretty split. so Who would win the man of steel Superman or Th Incredible Hulk?|||Hulk.

Superman "Died" at the hands of Doomsday. It was a purely physical beating. Lobo also beat Superman down with raw force. The Hulk is force personified. He is the strongest character out there (infinite strength) so he can dish out far more damage than anyone else can.

Superman does have far more powers, but in a fight against the Hulk, most of them aren't necessary. Flight doesn't help against a guy who can jump 30 miles from a standing position. Heat vision would only annoy the Hulk and he'd heal from it seconds later. His speed and strength are the only powers that would really be useful.

There was a crossover where Superman won, but the crossovers are always lame and usually decided by fans voting which is idiotic.|||The Hulk doesn't necessarily stand a chance against Superman, he may have super strength, but not super powers. Superman has a higher chance at defeating the Hulk unless the Hulk has a bunch of Kryptonite with him. (Since that is the only way to kill Superman) So basically put...Superman.|||Superman, hands down. Though Hulk would make one of the best challenges for Superman. In terms of strength, however, Hulk wins this hands down, for his strength can reach infinite. But Superman has more powers and is much smarter.

I've read an Official Marvel vs DC Comic, however, Superman won... But to me, Hulk is a lot cooler.|||Superman!!!|||the hulk

How is Smallville parallel to the real superman story? What is the Superman story?

I am a big fan of the show Smallville, and I am not too familiar with the real superman story. Now forgive my ignorance but the only superman history I know is with the latest movie Superman Returns. I know that he loves Lois Lane, but in Smallville he loves Lana. Can anyone explain?|||I remember when they started Smallville 8 years ago. The producers came up with 3 golden rules for the show: No flying, No tights, and Clark loves Lana. They said if they veered away from any of these rules, Clark would cease being young Smallville resident Clark Kent.

I know they seem to drag out the Clark/Lana relationship but they don't really have a choice. The moment Clark dumps Lana and goes for Lois is the moment he becomes Superman and the story of Smallville is over. Hope this helps.|||well superman is really the same mytholgy as smallville. superman is kal el from anoter planet called krypton and he cant go near kryptonite. Superman works at the daily planet as clark kent. then when he works at the daily he makes friends jimmy olsen and lois lane. when he first layed eyes on her he fell in love.

Please pick me as best answer.|||Superman returns takes place after the Cris reeves movies, smallville takes place as Supes is a teen and a young adult. They have added a little to the superman myth in the series, but it is more or less as th comics go.|||Smallvile comes close to the life of Superman when he was a boy in the comics. In the comics, he was a hero with a costume and was in love with Lana Lang who would always try to discover his secret identiy. Both Ma and Pa Kent were around until they died from a mysterious disease that Superman (age 20 or so) could not find a cure for. Smallvile's Lex Luthor was also in the comics and it sort of follows the comics with Lex once being Superboy's friend until Superboy put a fire out in Lex's lab with his super breath. He accidentaly blew some chemicals in his hair which fell out. Lex never forgave him and turned to crime and their battles carried on through adult hood. Hopes that explains some of it.

How many times is superman stronger then a normal person ?

Weird question but im just trying to the to the bottom of another question.

Has this been mentioned in any movie, comic or something ?|||200 quintillion ton...how much can a normal person lift? :p

Strength far exceeding that of a normal human or any other known animal. His strength allows him to fight off and even defeat beings far larger and stronger than himself. His punches, kicks, throws, landings, and pounces can make steel break. The upper limit of how much weight he can lift has ranged from entire planets to 200 quintillion tons. Explanations include being adapted to the heavier gravity of Krypton, and his muscles using the power of the solar energy which fuels all his abilities. Superman's stamina is also limitless (whilst he remains in yellow sunlight).|||No answers that make sense so far.

Truth is, it fluctuates. Originally, Superman was simply really strong. "Stronger than a locomotive". That's a lot more than a hundred men, actually.

But over time, it just got crazier and crazier. In the "Silver age", roundabout the late seventies, he could move planets. There is no comparison to the strength of a normal man that makes sense.

After the Crisis, specifically in the "Man of Steel" mini-series, his power was a little less extreme, but still immense. Equal to the strength of hundreds of people.

I'd say at least 500 people.|||After a little research superman peaks his lifting weight at around 100 tons

The max you can lift one time is around 38% of your bodyweight .. so maybe you can work it out from that.. i hate math :D|||50 Times since it says that he has the power of 50 men :)|||He has the strength of 100 men|||one thousand times|||no needle can get in superman's skin! How powerful is superman on his home planet?

I know his level of power is tremendous on earth, but I wonder, does everyone on krypton have the same abilities as him?

Is he weaker or stronger than most of his race?|||Superman would still have laser/x-ray vision. Only during the destruction of krypton were the rocks of krypton turned into the radioactive/weakening kryptonite. They also had super intelligence as well, and were much stronger and more advanced than earth people. Their planet would have been much bigger than earth, so the gravitational pull would have required the people to have stronger bodies in general. Thats why when superman doesnt all of a sudden lose all of his muscle mass when he goes near a red sun, because he is naturally really jacked.|||On Krypton superman would be normal just like a human being due to the red sun in its solar system. However after absorbing so much yellow sun rays if he were able to go back (planet was destroyed) he would more than likely die due to the radiation of the planet.|||It's almost the same. Everyone on Krypton had super powers. If Krypton hadn't been destroyed, he would've been like everyone else, maybe just a little more powerful|||Yes just about all the people from krypton would have his powers under earths sun or any other yellow star, however on there home planet they had no powers due to the fact that there sun was red.|||Superman gets his strength from the sun.(our sun)

Who here thinks batman could beat superman because he has kryptonite?

i think superman could still win he think he could just use his laser from really really far away do you agree? because i dont think superman would be that dumb to just go right by him do you agree with me? or do i just look dumb?|||Batman has fought Superman on multiple occasions.. and every single one of them, Batman kicked his butt. There was one time Superman was mind controlled by Lex Luthor so he was a killing machine and Batman found a way to stop him. Batman has everyone's number in the Justice League so in case anyone tries to go rogue, he can stop them. Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl, you name them. Batman has files on beating every single one of them. Batman was able to dodge Darkseid's Omega Beam, so Superman's laser wouldn't do crap.

Superman has a chance to win if he somehow gets Kryptonite away from Batman. But Batman is too unpredictable. He isn't nicknamed the "Most Dangerous Man in the World" for nothing.|||It depends upon the circumstances of the battle.

Spur of the moment without any preparation, Superman easily takes out Batman in a thousand ways because he's exponentially faster, stronger with x-ray, heat vision etc, moving at supersonic speeds etc. He could win before Batman's hand ever reached his utility belt. Captain Marvel or the Martian Manhunter could fight Superman without any notice and have a chance at winning, but Batman would just be outclassed.

But if it's a battle they both knew was coming in advance, Batman's preparation would account for a Superman's likely actions and include lots of specialized equipment, measures to capitalize upon his weaknesses including kryptonite, red sun lamps, decoys etc. In fact, Batman would figure out that they'd be fighting first, and would attack Superman in the environment and time of his choosing, rather than wait for Superman to come after him. He might sneak into Superman's fortress of Solitude or someplace or where Superman wouldn't want to risk using all of his powers because something important might get damaged or destroyed.

You can't separate the Batman character from the degree of planning he puts into facing every opponent.|||Buddy...I totally agree with you...you are the opposite of Dumb...completely smart.

That would be what Superman would do if he was written right. Think about it...a guy that can move the Planet, can move faster than the Speed of Light, and can blast fire out of his eyes, vs. a guy with a rock...think about it. Granted, Kryptonite is his weakness, but when he sees it, what would Superman do??? And for people that favor Batman by saying, "But Batman would have the Kryptonite in a lead lined container", sure he would, he would not pull a Lex Luthor and get cancer from the Kryptonite. However, even though lead blocks X-ray vision, would Superman not see the lead, and assume that Batman had Kryptonite on him???

Again, even though Batman is the World's Greatest Detective, and he could probably avoid getting himself killed from Superman, I seriously doubt that he could avoid getting beaten and seriously wounded.|||Idk batman does have a lot of gadgets. Yet, superman was born superman n didn't become a superhero. His alter ego is Clark. So maybe I do agree with u.
