What is the corrent Superman timeline?

Okay so the tv series "Smallville" is a sequal to the Superman movies. It's based on Clark Kent's young life of him learning to use his powers and eventually becoming Superman. I haven't seen any of the Superman movies and I don't plan to until Smallville ends. I am wanting to watch everything in the correct time line.





Could someone list all the media of Superman in the correct timeline?|||I'm sorry to tell you that, unless they make some major changes and erase a lot of people's memories in the end of this last season, Smallville is not a prequel to the Superman movies. They use some similar things (the crystal theme for Krypton and the Fortress of Solitude and Zod and the Phantom Zone), but they occur in different timelines and are different versions of events.





Smallville is a good version of the creation of Superman, but not the same as the movies. You can still wait and watch Superman: The Movie after this last season of Smallville ends the series, but if you try to watch it as a sequel to Smallville, you'll probably be left asking a lot of questions like "why doesn't he remember this" or "why doesn't she recognize them" or "what happened to that character".





I think it's best to just look at them as similar but different versions of events, in the same way that the 1989 Batman movie is different from the new Batman Begins/The Dark Knight version. This happens in comics all the time.





But if you're asking about the Superman movies, there are two ways you can watch the movies. On way in in order from Superman 1 through to Superman 4, though you'll find that 3 and 4 are silly and terrible. Another way is to watch Superman 1 and 2, and then watch Superman Returns. Returns was meant to take place after 2 and just pretend that 3 and 4 never happened.|||There are a number of separate timelines for Superman media





First The Superman movies are in one continuity 1,2,3 and 4. Superman returns occurs in a timeline where it is the thrid film following Superman 1 and 2, movies 3 and 4 are ignored





Smallville occurs in a timeline independant of the films and the comics. Thats why Lex Luthor isnt a land hungry gangster (Film series) or the second most intelligent being in the universe besides Brainiac (comics)





Any future films will be set in a separate timeline because Nolan will be involved.
