Kryptonite can kill Superman even though he came from the planet Krypton. Metropolis can also be symbolic because that is where Clark Kent (superman's alter ego) works and lives. Clark Kent is a journalist in Metropolis.|||The dog in to kill a mockingbird is a symbol for racism and when Atticus Finch shoots down the dog we presume he will then "shoot down" racism :)
