Even the latest Superman effort was reminicent of the earlier stinkers. Is it hard to make a good Superman movie? I mean, at the same level of queality as "Batman Begins" or "Batman the Dark Knight."|||My personal opinion is (for what it's worth) that the storyline is just too delicate to be well-handled by major Hollywood movie-makers, and no one has been gutsy enough to redesign and give it some oomph.
I think it's the combo of his personality and powers that make it hard to make a good movie out of him. If all the superheroes were in my family, Superman would be my "slow" cousin, know what I mean?|||Superman 2 was awesome......so I would say after that one.|||Hollywood is willing to risk big "money on the 1st "Superman" movie but dumbed down the the following sequels, although "Superman 2 was pretty good ( if you overlook certain aspects such as Superman flying Lois to his fortress in the Arctic %26amp; she is not even wearing a coat). A very good attempt was made with "Superman Returns" but the whole plot with him having a kid by Lois should have been eliminated as well as another villain besides Luthor. A good cast alone won,t do it if the script is no heart and soul and not true to the character. "Batman Begins" was written very intelligently. Audiences are much more sophisticated now and won,t accept just anything nowadays.|||I liked the first 2 but I definitely understand where you're coming from. I chalk it up to bad writing plain and simple (specifically parts 3 %26amp; 4). Superman Returns should've been a reboot instead of trying to hang on to the Christopher Reeve era which was okay for it's time but they needed to move on. I heard though that Christopher Nolan (director of Batman Begins %26amp; The Dark Knight) is supposed to direct the Superman reboot so that's definitely good news. Hopefully it won't be another re-telling of his origin again %26amp; maybe they'll get someone to write it who's more in tune with Supe's comic book history.
