Is Superman strong enough to escape a black hole?

We're talking about old-school superman here; the one that reversed the Earth's trajectory and spun back time. Could this superman fly to a black hole, pass into it's event horizon and then fly out? Could he go to the very center, pick up some mass, and fly that mass back out?|||could superman die? yes. is super man smart? no.|||Superman is a fictional character. Not only that, but he is a valuable intellectual property. His powers are limited only by the imagination of the writers and artists who create the comic book and, by the management of DC comics---the owners of the "brand."





If they decide that the laws of physics in Superman's world are different from the laws of physics that we know, then they could have him break free of a black hole. They do so at their own peril though. Fans don't necessarily object when Sci-fi authors re-write the laws of physics, but fans _do_ tend to object when then new laws are discovered to be self-contradictory. It's easy to fall into that trap, especially if the author has not been trained to think like a scientist.





In other words, if the authors of Superman decide to have him bust out of a black hole, then they'd better be prepared with a well thought-out explanation of _how_ he did it. Either that, or they'll end up eventually repeating the whole "Crisis..." thing again, possibly alienating fans in the process.|||Interesting question. We will probably never know the answer to this one, because there has not been a comic, movie or cartoon about this (at least not to my knowledge).





In my opinion, the Superman that we have now could, as could the Silver Age Superman, as our modern Superman is almost as strong now as the Silver Age Superman.





But then this is a highly debatable topic, because of how strong the gravity in a black hole is.|||Yes he can were talking about a guy that can shatter dimensions with his punches and thats modern superman you know the powered down one, if your talking old school then yeah that would be easy for him and for the person that said superman wasnt smart you do realize hes probably the smartest man in dc's world|||Yes, he is.|||nope, dude can't do that...
